pregnancy and beyond...
You may have heard that Yoga during your pregnancy does wonders for you and your unborn child.
But yoga also really helps you and your partner to prepare for pregnancy and enables you to
recover your figure and energy levels after the baby has been born.
Yoga with your partner before and during pregnancy, with your baby and partner after the baby is
born is a wonderful way of bonding, something which can feel so lacking in our busy lives.
It is a beautiful way of connecting, of finding and sharing love - one of the most beautiful gifts of
humanity.
Bringing a child into the world is possibly the most significant event in any woman's life and
adapting to the concept of motherhood and all it entails can be an anxious and nervy experience
for some. Yoga does really well to alleviate those nerves and anxiety.
Yoga is an amazing tool for you during this life changing experience. It will work wonders on your
health, self-esteem and your capability to have a smooth pregnancy. Yoga also does wonders on the
physical and mental development of the foetus.
What is involved ?
Asana (postures) -
The postures work on the reproductive organs and pelvis to ensure a smooth pregnancy and a relatively easy childbirth.
They increase strength in the physical body and release tension.
On a more subtle level, optimum supply of blood and nutrients to the developing foetus is ensured.
Deep Relaxation/Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) - is really effective for childbirth preparation and for physical and mental relaxation during the pregnancy.
Meditation - As a therapeutic tool, meditation helps you resolve the deepest of conflicts, fears and neuroses which are so common during pregnancy. Meditation will enable you to connect with your child
in a way that is impossible to explain and bring about an amazing awareness and intuition that you may have never experienced before.
Mudras and Bandhas (Gestures and internal locks) - The psycho-physical stimulation of these gestures and locks have powerful effects on a woman's reproductive organs before and after pregnancy, helping you in your
return to a normal sex life after the birth.
Pranayama (yogic breathing) - These powerful techniques work on your fitness and energy levels, ensuring a greater supply of oxygen and life force for you and your child.
CAUTION: Please ensure you have the approval of your doctor or mid-wife and are strictly under the guidance of a fully qualified yoga teacher with experience in yoga for pregnancy.
Please try not to work with Asanas (postures) in the first trimester especially if you have never done any yoga before or have a history of miscarriage or if this doesn't apply to you then
please keep your physical practice nice and light.
If you are hoping to conceive, are pregnant or have just given birth and would like to book a yoga session then please contact dimple
